What was it like to be a Red Cross nurse during World War 1

What was it like to be a Red Cross nurse during World War 1?
I'm supposed to pretend like I'm a nurse in a field hospital in France during world war one, and write a letter home to my parents.

If you are a citizen of the EU then you have an absolute right to live and work in any EU country, including France. However, France is not obligated to accept credentials from another country and this can be a major hurdle. Since you don't make clear where and when you were born, what steps you have taken to ensure recognition of your right to French citizenship, or where you have secured your education/credentials I can't be more specific.

An American WantiEng to do CNA work in either England Australian or France or Candadian Hospitals

An American WantiEng to do CNA work in either England Australian or France or Candadian Hospitals?
Ok so I am about to graduate from a CNA School (certified nursing assistant) I am an american born and raised. I am thinking of getting into a traveling nursing program. I am also going to go back to school eventually for phlebotomy and eventually Medical Billing and Coding. Here are the questions. I have heard that In England there are a shortage of CNAs/LPNs/RNs. Also I am interested in working overseas Preferably somewhere in England Australia or France. 1) Are there any international Traveling Nursing Programs that offer overseas work to any of the above countries mentioned? 2) If I wanted to one day work in France or Australia or England, how would I go about looking into jobs there or trying to find out which country would be best suited for me to work at? 3) If there are any international traveling programs, can a US citizen become a citizen of one of those countries? Does anyone have any experience or know of anyone who has done any of the traveling/living/working in another country short term or long term? thanks Brandt

Do you speak French? to get a job in the UK or any of the other European countries you have to get an offer of a job, or someone to sponsor you. To get French citizenship you have to have a residence permit, and be living there five years to get French citizenship. The way it works in Europe is that an employer has to prove that he/she could't get someone from other EU countries to do the job before hiring someone from outside the EU. Too much paper work and red tape. An employer has to apply for a work permit with the department of labout to hire an non EU citizen. Plus prove that he/she couldn't get someone from all 27 EU countries to do the job. You would have to have a BA in nursing.

A CNA is a week course in the most states ..its worth nothing in most countries RN are the only useful qualification

Many Brits actually live in France but if you are a nurse you should be welcome to as we need nurses to...in the south of France some hospital are recruting nurses from Spain and provide them with accomodation + french courses.... But in any case if you moove here you will need to learn the languages ...if not you wont be able to live properly...it will be the same for a French speaker living in the UK ..it will be quite difficult ... http://www.frenchentree.com/living-in-france/ Welcome to our lovely country.

Please help! Wanting to move to France

Please help! Wanting to move to France?
I am a 24 year old RN from the US who wants to move to France. I have 2 years nursing experience, I am a US RESIDENT (not citizen), and I have an EU citizenship (my parents are from Spain.). I speak English and Spanish fluently, and I speak French as well (just have some trouble with some grammar sometimes...haha, but I'm taking classes now so I would fix that before I move.) Do you think I am a good candidate to move to France? I'm dying to go...I've been there quite a couple times, and I studied abroad there during college. I have a couple of friends there who are natives as well. How hard do you think it would be for me to get a job? I appreciate all of your help and please, give advice if you have any! Thanks again :)

As a EU citizen you have the right to settle and work in France without needing a visa. What you need is to find a job, and right now 10% of our active population is trying to do the same. You also have to choose a place, France might look small to someone from a continent state but it is still 1000 kms wide and tall, the biggest European country, with wildly different climates and settings. Cold sea, warm sea, mountains, plains, hills, volcanoes... you have it all here. What you will also need is to check if your nursing degree is accepted in France. It might be that they ask you to retake it, in French. Why don't you contact the American hospital in Paris, they might be able to help you. https://www.american-hospital.org/index.php?L=0

Search online for agency in France and E mail or call them. Give them all the info they need.
3 :
you will not be able to work in France as a nurse as the health department does not recognise our diploma . they require you to go to a nursing school here & pass their licensure exam. you must also read, write & speak french fluently . good luck.

Is nursing something that's worth it

Is nursing something that's worth it?
All I hear about now at my McDonald's job is people who have graduated college and now cannot find jobs. I'm afraid that will happen to me. I looked into nursing when I was about 16 (I'm 19 now) and my mother told me not to do it because it would mean working on holidays and never having a moment to myself. I'm not sure if it's like that or not, but I do know that I wouldn't mind it at all. Holidays have always been unimportant in my family, and I see no point of making them a big deal on my own. Besides, helping someone who is in the hospital for Christmas would make the holidays far more enjoyable to me. I also love to travel, but I don't know much about travel nursing. It would be wonderful to be able to do nursing in Spain, London, France, and all over the world if I could. I'm sure I could squeeze in a few cultural experiences in my off time, even if it won't be much. I'd also like to do the Peace Corps. Money aside, because I'm sure it's more than my McDonald's income anyway, is nursing worth it? I'd go to a community college in order to get an LPN degree if possible. Science is a tough subject, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes to have a career that I love, and that would be any career that lets me travel, help others, meet new people, and feel good about myself while I'm exhausted at the end of the day. Exhaustion is great to me. I like to feel my body tell me that I've worked hard. I guess that's kind of weird. But, back to the question. Is nursing worth it? Will I have a hard time getting a job? I don't want to be like some of the other McDonald's workers...having a degree but not being able to get a job. How soon after nursing school would I be able to travel? Could I get a job out of state? Could I get a job at a Charity hospital? I would really love to work at an inner city hospital in the emergency section. Quick question: Nursing is nothing like television, is it? I've seen scrubs, and that much drama and silliness in a hospital is far too amusing to be true.

Any medical job is worth it, IF that is something that your are passionate about & love to do. To do it for money or the fact that you can find a job--those are the people who are miserable. Your best bet is to get a RN-either through the community college system or the university. There are pre-reqs and a wait list however. So it may take you a few years to even start. I also recommend volunteering at a hospital to really see the environment. You do work a lot of holidays & often night shifts; but I don't know why everyone thinks nurses have no time for themselves. If you do a 12 hour shift you get 3-4 days a week off or more--better than the average job. As to working in different states, once you pass the national exam all you need to do is apply for a license in which ever state you wish to work in. International nursing is far less common and rather difficult-but you are light-years away from that. To become a traveling RN with in the US, you would need several years experience working. Keep in mind, travelers are there to work, not site see.
2 :
Hard work, lots of studying, responsibility and accountability etc. I trained 30 years ago and quit last Christmas as times have changed for the worst and felt my patients weren't getting the care and dignity they deserve anymore !! Too many people doing the job with limited skills today and I'm a bit old fashioned (in my 40's) so standards slipped...just had enough.
3 :
If you want to do it, then its worth it. I think your family should be more supportive/encouraging of your goals & ideas. It sure beats McD's! Just FYI, to travel you need a Bachelors of Nursing, and you need to be able to speak fluently the language of the country (Spanish, French, etc as you indicated). You can travel locally (in the US, if that's where you're located) but this takes a couple years experience first before you can do this. To travel internationally is quite expensive, as it involves a lengthy process of obtaining licenses, etc. In some cases, licenses can take around 6 months to obtain... so its best if you're moving there for at least a year. You can work as much or as little as you want, as with any job. Where I work, a full time position is 2 day shift, followed by 2 night shifts, followed by 5 days off (which is technically 4, because you sleep for 1). All shifts are 12 hours. You are free to pick up overtime on your days off, which many people do. Sometimes you work holidays, but thats just part of the job. As far as ease in getting a job, it fluctuates. 2 years ago, it was dead easy to get a job anywhere as a new grad. Now, times are a lot tougher. However, in another year or two this will open back up- especially with this new health plan in place- and more nurses will be in demand. Definitely worth it. But do a degree, to give you more options. It'll save you upgrading later.

If you earn an R.N. and a B.S. you will make the most money and have the best selection of jobs. Unless you are a citizen of or have the right to work in France as a citizen of another EU nation, you may as well forget about living there unless you marry a French citizen, so long as doing so gives you the right to work there. You would have to check on that. You will not easily find a job as a top chef in France. They have enough native ones. It will be much easier to find a nursing job than a teaching job in France.

Is France really better than the U.S. in terms of health care and insurance

Is France really better than the U.S. in terms of health care and insurance?
And how is France for nurses, the conditions and salaries??
Other - France - 4 Answers

1 :
The French health care system, under their version of national insurance, is excellent. Private health insurance is usually just taken out as a top up over here. Private insurance is not too expensive either - relatively speaking. In terms of pay conditions French nurses, doctors, dentists and all related health care occupations are reasonably well paid. Another big difference is that in France it is not possible to pursue frivolous law suits and there are no ambulance chasing lawyers. There fore insurance costs are kept down.
2 :
Ohhh yeaaahhh IT IS!!! UN health care systems ranking: France: 1st in the world USA: ...........38th!!! No comment.
3 :
Yes, it really is better and, as a percentage of GDP, it costs less than the American system. This system works for a variety of reasons. To begin with, higher education in France is all but free and therefore doctors and nurses don't begin their professional lives with a crushing burden of debt. Next, malpractice lawsuits are less frequent and don't produce huge judgments. But the principle reason is that health care workers make vastly less that they do in the United States. The average annual compensation for a physician in France is between 65 and 125 thousand euros, a tiny fraction of what an American physician makes. Salaries for nurses and other health care workers are also much lower than in the USA. This means that fees are lower even before insurance reimbursement is taken into account with office visits costing 21 euros ($30) and doctors making house calls for 31 euros (i.e. about $45). Medicine is not as industrialized as it is in the USA and I suspect that this is one reason why it is so effective in France. By most standard measurements, the French have the best health care system in the world.
4 :
France's health insurance is definitely a lot cheaper than in the US, but I still find the quality of care to be MUCH better in the US. I also find French doctors to be not very advanced technologically speaking. (For example, my eye doctor here uses a technique that my eye doctor in the US stopped using years ago to replace with a more modern and faster technique.) For nurses, the salaries are decent and conditions are good. However, don't make any plans to move over here and become a nurse. You'd need to attend French nursing school and pass the French nursing exam to do so.

Looking for good nursing bras

Looking for good nursing bras?
I have been looking all over and there are very few brands that make nursing bras. Do you know of any decent quality brands with possibly "fun" styles? It would have to be either a brand that can be bought on the internet or a brand that is sold in France, where we are living. You would think in Paris it would be easier to find such a thing. Thanks for your help! baby #1 due May 2nd

Try Motherhood online store. I bought them from one of their stores here in Texas and have been pretty happy with them. Only solid colors, but comfy and pretty easy to use once you get the hang of them.
2 :
My hands-down favorite place to buy nursing bras is Breakoutbras.com http://breakoutbras.stores.yahoo.net/ They have excellent, personal customer service and will help you with sizing to make sure you get the perfect fit. Everything they sell is comfortable and supportive and some of the bras are very beautiful and fun to wear, too. I think they ship worldwide, but the free shipping offer only applies to US and Canadian customers. Here is a 10% off coupon code if you do decide to place an order: bb779877

Oh my gosh, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Bravado nursing tanks. They also have bras. They offer so much support. My boobs actually look perky again in them! LOL The website is www.bravado.com and they are kind of expensive, so my husband and I bought mine off ebay. Congrats on your baby!
4 :
You don't want to put your money into good nursing bras until about a week after your milk supply is established. You will change sizes until then. If you need something just to get thru until then, I loved the Madela tank type ones. They were very comfortable, look like a tank top under clothes, are "sleepable", and fit during all the size changing. You end up being a lot larger at birth, after your milk supply gets fully established (1-2 weeks) then your cup size drops back down some. That's when you should be fitted and invest the money in a good bra.

How much money would I need to save up to move to Paris France

How much money would I need to save up to move to Paris France?
I know it would take several years, but what is your estimate. I currently live in Arizona. I would love to move there someday. How much do medical assistant, phlebotomist, and registered nurses get paid out there, would it be the same as the United States, or less.? Also, would studying to become a doctor out there be good, or should I study in the United States before moving out there? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks to advance. God Bless.

Unfortunately, as a US citizen you cannot just up and move to France. To work there as a nurse you will need to be completely fluent in French. In addition, your qualifications are not recognised in France and you will need to do additional study. The problem here is that, as a US citizen, you may get a study visa to do this, but you will need to pay the full cost of the course, and there is no guarantee that you will be offered a job. US citizens are eligible to stay in France for 90 days out of every 180 days, as a tourist. If you want a long stay visa you must have accommodation arranged beforehand and show that you have enough money to support yourself without working. Other options are a study visa, but it's generally necessary to leave the country once you've finished your course; or, get a job. Even if you have qualifications acceptable to the French authorities, and can speak French fluently, you will have problems even getting a job offer as the French employer must get an authorisation from the French Ministry of Labour and prove that there are no French or EU citizens available to do this particular job, and that's difficult at the best of times. For more information on visas, have a look at the French Embassy website: http://ambafrance-us.org/spip.php?rubrique=2#
2 :
Unless your French is excellent, don't bother. Also, two things: if you've never been and are in love with the idea, then go and experience the difference in culture and see if you like it enough to take that plunge, because it's a huge commitment. As a non-EU national, you can't just up and move to any EU country just like that. You'd need to sort out a job first, and even then there's no guarantee that you'll get the NECESSARY work/residency permit to stay there.

I live in the UK and I don't think we have such thing's as a 'Nurses Aide'. However, I do think we have something that could be similar, but I can't remember the name. I'm not sure if they have them in France and/or Italy. You should be able to find a job in the NHS in the UK as on providing you have suitable qualifications. ~ James
2 :
Well i'm not sure how common Nurses aids are in Europe but i think I should add in a few things...becoming a citizen in Europe or being able to work in Europe is a very hard thing to do for an American. Why would they hire a nurses aid from America when someone could do that already living in that country? Now Im not telling you to give up but picking up and moving to Europe is a very hard task. I would try England because i've heard its a littler easier to move to than other countries in Europe.

You might also consider Ireland due to the taxes. Check cost-of-living, TAXES, and employment prospects before moving.

Ok... If you're serious about moving and you live in the U.S. Just find a neocon here and tell them where you're moving. Make something up about being liberal in America. They'll be happy to pay your way.

taxes there are in the mid 40% to start. Are you SURE you want to move there?

Do you speak any French? If she is planning to go into health care in France, she may have to take more courses over there. Taxes in France are also very high. France is a beautiful country with good food....that's about it! C'est la vie!

Well, in genral, life is a bit more expensive (and with the decrease of the dollar, it is going to be expensive in general) (but unexpensive from the UK). Housing is very expensive in Paris (NYC is far worst but most not to say all other US cities are less expensive than Paris), can be affordable in other parts of France. But the living standards are not the same, everything is smaller there, no A/C, no utilities included in your rent. Which means buying a washing machine... If you ship your stuff, it is going to cost a bunch of money, only corporate sponsored persons do use that. And forget any thing that has a plug, as the electricity is 220V. Buy it there. Taxes can be high (surprise, they are paid at the end of the year) in addition to social charges (paid immediately). What is less expensive in France is: books, heathcare and... at the moment, I would say that's all. But give a try, relocating is a great experience. And France is a wonderfull country, even if it might be a bit hard to make friends (not as welcoming at 1st as the americans are, at least in the north and Paris)

No - there's no agreement on equivalence of diplomas between US & France probably - And your US diploma should be registered by the sanitary local authority - mainly if you want to work as a free nurse - 2. Ressortissants de pays extérieurs à l’Union européenne Les étrangers diplômés de tous les pays extérieurs à l’Union doivent passer le concours d’entrée dans un IFSI (Institut de Formation en Soins Infirmiers). They may accept your diploma, although a four year degree is stronger, but you may have trouble getting a work visa. Check with the French Consulate in Washington. good luck

Well last time i checked, being in the 10th grade does not qualify you as a R.N. and it is against the law to pose as one when your not!!!!!

One week ago you said you were 16 years old. Did you start college at age 10? An American BSN degree may be accepted if you can pass their license examination and speak fluent French.

Best Jobs to apply for in France for british moving to the North

Best Jobs to apply for in France for british moving to the North?
My girlfriend and I are planning to move to Northern France in a couple of years when she has finished UNI. She is a student nurse. Im at current a PCSO and have been for 6 years. At present we both speak basic french but are going to try and learn more before we move. I only have a GNVQ in travel and tourism from 8 years ago. Can anyone recommend any jobs we should look for and if her nursing is recognised in france.

GNVQ in travel and tourism!!! Interesting, send us a private message and a CV. What part of Northern France are you looking at? @ny: Have a horrible feeling your answer in rather inaccurate. We have many doctors and nurses working here that qualified overseas.
2 :
no, medical degrees of any sort never travel, that is, if you got yours in UK, it's valid in UK only and nowhere else, if you have a Canadian medical diploma - it's valid only in Canada, and so on. If she wants her degree to be recognised in France, she will have to undergo a lengthy test, examinations, and so on, and you can fail at the end, and people told me, that it was easier and cheaper just to get enrol into a medical school and do it all over again. So, if you want to move to France for good, she is wasting her time. Unless you plan to return back home some time in the future, then, again, she will be disqualified for not being in active practise, so she would have to undergo a test in UK... and so on. You did not tell us, too, if two years were only studies, or some practical time was allotted to this time frame, because, a nurse with a foreign diploma and no experience is a nobody. If she has some references from some hospital or such, she might hope for a mother's assistant with a medical background, and earn some little euros, or a private caregiver (non-official, not a nurse but rather a helper to the elderly) for some old bedridden person and, too, earn little euros. Her education is useless anywhere abroad.

American Nurse working looking to work in France

American Nurse working looking to work in France?
I am an American pre-nursing student working on a dual major in social working and for some time I have been wanting to experience another culture not through the eyes of a tourist but as a citizen. The country that tops my list is France particularly the city of Marseille. My biggest concern is licensing, the demand for labor, cost of living and wages. I'm somewhat fluent in French, although my pronunciation can use some work.

I don't know about France specifically but nurses seem to be in demand everywhere. You might consider applying for work in the UK - definite demand there. The UK will probably allow you to work there as a highly skilled professional. There are programs for recruiting teachers, nurses, etc. Once you are there it should be easier to get yourself to France...you can do the research MUCH easier.

Obviously the big issue is being fluent. Here is one source http://www.oesworld.com DA

I'm pretty sure you can only be trained to be a nurse in the country in which you plan on being a nurse. If you want to be a nurse in Europe, learn the language of the country you want to live in. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't teach someone who only speaks English how to be a nurse in that country.

Why are some political parties and their followers like this

Why are some political parties and their followers like this?
Okay, I am not going to name the political party since they are known for reporting people who disagree with them. Anywho. I am a 30 year old man with two bachelors degrees, one in Nursing and the other in Health Administration and Policy, and a Masters degree in Anesthiology (sorry I still cant spell that word). I started college when I was 17 years old and was completely finished with everything by the time I was 25. I am now an Anaesthiologist working with one of the best cosmetic surgeons in the Washington DC area. I make $250,000 a year. I am also a married man since I was 24 and the proud father of 2 sets of twins. My wife is a private teacher for Autistic children and makes $75 an hour. We are both living the life of our dreams. Our childrens college is already pre-paid, our house will be paid off next year. We just feel so blessed. This summer my wife and I took our kids on a Disney world tour. We went to Disney in Florida, California, China, and France. We were both able to take a month off of work to make sure our kids have the time of their lives and to bring our family closer together. Now my problem is is that thereare certain people running for president and his followers who want to take that away from me and my family. They feel that even though I work hard for my money and where I am that I shouldn't have it. They feel I should be happy with $80000 a year and the rest should be given to the poor. They see vacations like the one my family and I took and say we should be happy with just going to Six Flags. Why do these people feel this way? Why do they feel that the wealthy should suffer for the poor? Why do they feel that I should give up most of my income in federal taxes so less educated people can live better lives? Can anyone explain this logic? please.

the candidate you are referring to just wants to lower tax cuts for the upper class not put more taxes on... he just feels that all classes should receive tax breaks relative to their income.... a rich person gets less tax breaks because it takes a smaller portion of his income to buy food.. gas...etc a lower class person must use a higher percentage of their income to pay for these every day items .... this is the principal behind a progressive tax system

How can I become a medical worker in US

How can I become a medical worker in US?
Hi there, I was trained as General Practitioner (6 years) in Vietnam, then worked as eye treating doctor for 8 years, after that 2 year study for my degree Master of Science in Medicine (Major: Ophthalmology) and then 1 year as Eye Intern in France. Unluckily, my left eye's vision was deteriorated so I could not have a good binocular vision enough for surgery and taking care for eye patients (my right eye is fine). I am now immigrating to the US. Could you please give me advice if I have any chance to be with medicine as my job? Any kind of medical education (nurse, technician, laboratory staff..) could I continue? And I really like to take advantage from my previous education to shorten my study in US and get a job. I am not able to become an American doctor. Thanks so much! My email: haodangha@gmail.com Ha

Are Filipinos really considered in US as Pacific Islanders and not Asians

Are Filipinos really considered in US as Pacific Islanders and not Asians?
Don’t be fooled at once by the title of the entry. The story behind that statement excludes us. Last year, a friend left the Philippines and went to the United States. In his German class, the students were international. The professor asked who the Asians were and one by one the Asian students introduced themselves. And so it went, the Chinese, the Koreans, the Vietnamese, the Singaporeans etc. all raised their hands. Finally the professor calls this Filipino and asks, Professor: Where are you from? Filipino: Philippines Professor: Oh, Filipinos are not Asians! They are Pacific Islanders! Because ASIANS ARE SMART… In the United States, it is already being taught in schools that Filipinos are not Asians—that we are Pacific Islanders. While there is a lot of reaction against it, I am surprised that many intelligent Filipinos abroad have accepted this without question. Pacific Islands are places like Samoa, Hawaii, Tahiti, Guam, Cook Islands, Mariana Islands—and their common denominator? Most of them do not possess their own national and political identities—they are islands under the jurisdiction and protection of more powerful countries like USA, France and New Zealand. Most of these Pacific Islands are still referred to as “indigenous natives.” They have very, very small populations and they have no global role or power. While they have their own unique culture and characteristics, they do not hail from any great civilization in the past. Hindi sila lumaban at tumayo para sa sarili nilang lahi. What is even sad, however, is that even Pacific Islanders do not like and do not accept Filipinos! One good example are Hawaiian tourists we met in China. When they learned that we were Filipinos, they disgustingly uttered , “You eat Balot!” and avoided us like a plague. The statement of this American guy, filled with racism obviously merits strong disapproval. In fact, our friend was so angry after having been humiliated in front of the class. The logical thing to say, is that the Philippines IS part of the ASEAN group of nations. We can also say that Japan is an island in the Pacific Ocean but is not considered a Pacific Island. But we should ask—why would no one dare to call the Japanese people Pacific Islanders? Why pick on the Philippines? Simple. Because Japan has produced cars and we have produced dried mangoes and pastillas. The Philippines has been so left behind by Asian countries that foreigners shake their heads and ask, “What happened to your country?” Let us not even compare the Philippines with the four Tiger economies, ‘cuz they’re just way way way too far ahead. What about Vietnam and Thailand? I read that for every one Filipino who has a Master’s Degree, Vietnam has 6, Thailand has 25 and Singapore has 200. But why bother to be educated when the national dream is to go abroad? We are scattered from Hongkong to Kazakhstan, from Italy to even North Korea. Thousands of our doctors are becoming nurses. Our teachers become caregivers. Our women become entertainers and prostitutes. Our young people only know one course and that is nursing. Why would foreigners respect us when we do not even respect ourselves? We are the country of Gucci Gangs—our elite own Picassos and they simply have no heart to alleviate and educate the masses, as F. Sionil Jose and Brian Gorrell—the pitiful Australian guy who was robbed by DJ Montano—sadly pointed out. I am reminded of Condoleezza Rice, the first black woman to become the United States Secretary of State. She was born in Alabama and suffered discrimination on account of her color. But she was taught from a young age by her father, that she had to be “twice as good”and prove that she was deserving of advancement. Condoleezza Rice explains, “I was going to be so well prepared, and I was going to do all of these things that were revered in white society SO WELL, that I would be armored somehow from racism. I would be able to confront white society on its own terms.” (Washington Post, Lessons of Might and Right, How Segregation and an Indomitable Family Shaped National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, By Dale Russakoff, September 9, 2001) The only way to answer people, who insist that we are uncivilized tribes is not by shooting off our mouths. The only answer is to beat them by studying and working ten times harder than the rest—to beat them not just once or twice, but to do so consistently for the next 20,30, 40, 50 years. Unless we Filipinos are prepared to love our country, and sacrifice ourselves by doing the extra-mile, we really deserve to be called stupid. ~ Lipad-Lawin Source: http://www.thebrownraise.org

OK, first of all, expecting Americans to know the least little thing about geography is expecting way too much of them. I'm married to an African, from Ghana. I have encountered hundreds of people who think that Africa is a country, not a continent; several who've asked me if I went on a "safari" when I went to Africa, and whether or not my husband and kids speak "African" (there are 45 major languages in Ghana alone, not even looking at the other 55 countries on the continent). Anyway, the point is, most Americans are going to have a blank "What are you talking about" look when you try to discuss the Philippines. My doctor is from the Philippines. And I've had previous doctors from there. They are good doctors, esp. the one I have now. MY confusion about the Philippines has to do with a sort-of-Asian look to the people, but Spanish sounding names. And Tagalog doesn't seem to be a language like Chinese and Japanese, since it's written with Latin (Roman) characters. So from that perspective, I can see it being considered as a "Pacific Island" country as opposed to being a part of Asia.

It makes me sick that people sit around an whine about it I cant do this or I cant do that if they spent half the energy working as they do complaining they would have nothing to complain about ,I see your point 100% and this year because of over existed state and federal welfare systems I got taxed to the point I had almost a zero income. So it just isn't on the part of people who make really excelent money . It is every working tax payer. I found out anybody working with the systems get huge revinues by getting people on them , that is how the get payed.Rediculas . my name is jolie and im from france( europe). the purpose of me comin to the us was school and im actually majoring in nursing then latter on i would like to get a master in nursing anesthesia whish will be achieved in not less than 5years. my point is two years ago i started dating my boy friend and he proposed to marry me 6months ago of course i agreed because i love him so very much.at that time he agreed also to go back to school to better himself and then we will return to france and work there.but yesterday while i was telin him how excited i was about our plan he brough out an issues that might change everything. he actually told me that he didn't wana stay in this country(us) for more than 2years that he has more oportunities to succeed in europe and also that he doesn't think school is really for him.as much as i love him and wana marry him i dont think i wana leave my school to go back to france without no degree which mean no point of start there. he want us to leave here without at least a degree that will definately help us stay on the safe side and go there start at level zero with no guarantee that we will make it at all knowing that we about to buid a family and have children.i dont kno wat to do anymore should I marry him and leave for back home because i love him or should i tell him that he has to stick to our plans if he wants to marry me or should i just leave him now before things get more complicated. also the way he was talkin, i felt like he was givin me orders by sayin that after we get married you gonna have to get pregnant in the next 3weeks becoz i want a baby now now i dont wana wait. he didnt bother askin 4 my opinion like its all about him. im 23 and he is 29 . pleaz help im way far from knowing wat to do

DO NOT marry him. I've been in a similar position like this, and don't change your life to fit around a relationship, because a strong relationship will follow with what you want to do with your life. If he wants to get married tell him to wait until after college. I dropped out of college once because a guy wanted to get married and live together, and have a family, and I still remember it as the biggest mistake I've ever made. Please please please don't make the mistake I made, it will be nothing but suffering and misery. The hardest part is the year comes around when you SHOULD have graduated, and the realization that you have nothing. It's humiliating, depressing, embarrassing, just everything bad put into one. I know you don't know me but please oh please don't do that. I'm literally begging you. you don't want to put yourself through what I've already been through.

Well if u feel tht u love him but at the same time u don’t find him caring for ur interests then u need to make ur feelings meet the reality of his feelings. All u shud do as per my opinion is to speak in a calm but definite manner to him about ur feelings n preferences & also making him understand the need for mutual undrstndng. If he is a guy for u then he shud b willing to love u emotionally aswell. U shud keep a tag on ur relationship from now itself so tht u don’t regret later, after all life is more than the flowery kind of love tht seems in the beginning. There’s a saying I have heard of- Don’t marry the person whom u love but rather marry the person who loves u (n bcos of this u shud also start loving him as he loves u)

Your age difference causes there to be a difference in your view of the immediate future. Your boyfriend is older and thus has a sense of urgency to begin his adult life. While you on the other hand feel now is a time for you to secure a way to make a living in your adult life. The question is what is your motivation? Do you truly love this man and want to spend the rest of your life with him? If so, there should be no sacrifice to great. On the other hand he must understand that you are young and feel the need to further yourself in life, if he truly loves you. If you do not have the love for this man that makes you want to be with him for life, then you should not waste his time or yours and move on with your goals. After all, what is the point of a relationship, if it has no hope for marriage? There are opportunities in many places, love is the greatest of them all. Love is not a conditional commitment, only given if your partner makes the decisions you see as right. In closing, do what your conscience tells you is right, aside from thoughts of your own personal gain. You will be happy without guilt in the end, if you choose to do what you know is right.

I want to CRY b/c of my situation...PLEZ give me some advice

I want to CRY b/c of my situation...PLEZ give me some advice?
So im 21 and I met my very first bf 4 months ago and i have never had anyone before him. He gave me my first kiss. He has A LOT of good qualities (does not push anything sexual on me that I don't want aka...very respectful!, has a good job, good looking but I HATE his glasses lol, wants to get married, seems like he would be a good husband/father, seems to really care for me and pays for everything anywhere we go) BUT here's the deal... I still don't feel as if im in "love with him" and it's been 4 months already...I feel like I should be by this time...there are some things about him that bother me but they are small...(he seems shy in front of my parents and even with other people he dosen't really seem like the kind of guy who would "be the center of attention at a party"...you know? he's not like the guys who go all crazy and laugh with other people and just be silly.... he tends to be sociable but serious at times especially when we go to places and people try to sell him stuff...he just kind of says "no" and keeps walking and not even give a smile or anything the big problem is that I HAVE TO be married in two years....It sounds terrible but im getting my bachelors degree in nursing done right now and I don't have a valid government ID b/c my visa expired and they won't renew it...so, unless I get married in two years I won't be able to take my licensure exam and be a nurse...I don't know what im going to do..... So basically I would have to go back to my country (France) if I don't get married in two years and I don't remember anything b/c i came when I was only 5 years old....so in a way...I feel pressured to feel like I "HAVE TO" love him b/c I need to get married as if I don't have a choice b/c technically I don't...I can't go back to my country b/c ive lived here 17 years and I can't dump him either b/c Im afraid I won't find anyone else/better plus I don't have a car so it's kind of hard to go out and meet people without a car All in all, I really do like him right now it's just that my parents are a little skeptical about him b/c he seems so shy around them but we go dancing together and he drives out here 80 miles just to pick b/c I don't have a car...I just don't know if this will bloom into anything bigger in the future... what should I do?? and thank you to everyone who can help me out! :)

Give it time. It's not going to happen in 4 months. If you don't think you love him after 2 years then you have a problem.

You are setting yourself up for disaster if you honestly think like this. "I have to be married in two years"? "I feel like I have to love him"? Are you kidding me??? This is no way to go about finding someone you want to spend the rest of your life with. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES does anyone HAVE to be married in ANY amount of time. Our divorce rates are so incredibly high because of people like you thinking like this. COME ON! Get REAL woman!! This is your first boyfriend, you're only 21, and you haven't even started your career yet!! Unless you want to end up in court filing divorce papers in 5 years with some random man you "had to marry," QUIT IT

ok first off, you CAN NOT rush love...it just doesnt work that way, just give it time and take things easy...you have 2 years, and also dont get married just because you feel pressured due to your visa, thats a really sh!tty thing to do. And also you say that you dont like how he's not '"the center of attention" and whatnot, well just be glad thats he's not an obnoxious @sshole And he drives 80 miles just to see you?! gah, thats amazing right there lol, i think you just need to slow things down and learn to appreciate him for who he is just a little bit more and just live life one day at a time. Im only a 17 year old kid...but i know these kinda things haha, good luck =P
